VIDEO: Oak Titmouse Pair Builds a Nest

Getting to know the birds in our neighborhood better during these pandemic months has lifted my spirits. Recently, a pair of Oak Titmice—who mate for life—chose the nest box I installed last year. This short 3-minite video (below) shares some highlights of these perky, industrious little birds with their cute crests as they defend their territory and work together to build their nest.

VIDEO by Beth Ann Mathews: Oak Titmouse Pair build a nest in a nestbox (Baeolophus inornatus).

I hope you enjoy my simple video glimpse into a week in the lives of Mr. and Mrs. Oak Titmouse. If you have any questions or comments, or have a favorite neighborhood bird you’re watching, please leave me a note. Observing wild birds for me is a form of rejuvenating meditation.

Soon, I’ll post another video of their parenting journey, including a near take-over by western bluebirds twice their size. I’m calling this series of videos Nestflix. Enjoy!
